Mazama - Two good loops that are approximately 6 miles each offer good running, walking, biking, and horse back riding. One starts at the Mazama junction and the other at the Hwy 20 parking lot just up valley from the Freestone inn. Please consult the map to know what sections of trail allow biking and horseback riding.
Sun Mountain - Trails offer lots of variety for family riding or single track riders in one concentrated area. Half the trails have melted out and half still have snow 4.20.09.
Methow Community Trail - Trail is a good tour of the Methow valley between Mazama and Winthrop. Roughly 40% of the trail follows sections of road that diverge from the winter Methow Community Trail. Please consult the Valley map to see what sections of trail are open for summer use.
Big Valley Ranch- 4 miles of flat trails through wildlife habitat and river views. Trails are currently free of snow 4.20.09
Rendezvous - Mainly Forest Service roads linked by a few trails here and there. The area is characterized by steep hill climbs and decents with great views of valley and beyond. Single tracks available but a guide highly recommended inorder to find the trails. Rendezvous Mountain Huts available for rent for glorified camping/mountain bike base-camp in summer months. Most trails still have an icy platform 4.20.09. |
