And Stanley Dural, AKA Buckwheat Zydeco won for Best Instrumentalist (other-accordion) of the year. The Methow Chamber Music Festival. Thursday, July 29 through Saturday, August 7, 2010.
2010.... A SEASON TO LOOK FORWARD TO... and our second in a world-class venue with sound that resonates. 2009... a crowd pleasing success, with thrilling programs, hot-blooded talent, and a venue that is a feast for both the eyes and ears. The festival has passed a major milestone in its journey to be the important national festival that its caretakers want it to be. Longtime Northwest favorite pianist, Craig Sheppard, said, "Kevin (Krentz, Artistic Director) has really something special here. You can just feel it, this is the beginning of a major happening." With multiple standing ovations at each of the main concerts, he was clearly not the only one feeling that energy.

12th Annual North Cascade Fiddler's Contest August 28, 2010
Oldtime fiddling is a living folk art, one of the last. Some of these old tunes are 300 years old and have been passed down from generations. Where else could you see a kid playing a tune in 2010 that his great-grandpa played in 1902? The music is learned by ear, not sheet music. The oldtime fiddling harks back to when music wasn't made by celebrities, but by your uncle and neighbors. At a fiddle contest there are no "stars" kept separate back stage. You can meet and greet some of the best fiddlers in the world here. It's just a different music scene.
