Professsional Theater - Tuesdays with Morrie, 8/6-22 August 6 - 22, 2010 at the Merc Playhouse
Friday, Saturday shows at 7:30 p.m. Sunday shows at 2 p.m.
The play is based on the autobiographical story by Mitch Albom about an accomplished journalist driven solely by his career, and Morrie Schwartz, his former college professor. Sixteen years after graduation, Mitch happens to catch Morrie's appearance on a television news program and learns that his old professor is battling Lou Gehrig's Disease. Mitch is reunited with Morrie, and what starts as a simple visit turns into a weekly pilgrimage and a last class in the meaning of life. This story proves that sometimes when you lose your way, you find it again in the most unexpected places.
Directed by Patrick Lacey. Tickets available online or at Trail's End Bookstore in Winthrop. $20 Adults, $10 Youth 18 & under. A "Pay-What-You-Can" performance held Wednesday, August 11 at 7:30 p.m. In addition, there will be a chance to compare the play with the book in a special Book Discussion Night on Wednesday, August 18, immediately following the performance.
